Well that's it. The CLASSIC & VINTAGE SWAP MEET and SHOW'N SHINE means it's officially Spring in Killman Customs Independent Buildhouse land. Todd, his lovely wife and their hardworking crew always put on a killer event and this year was no different.
We hit town a couple of days early to get a head start on prep and setup, which turned out to be a bit of luck because there was a pretty rad VW & Bug show going on next to our venue the day before our event. Took in some stellar custom work and strangely enough managed to snag myself a WWII sissybar bag for my troubles. Nice to warm up the old swap meet muscles before we got started in a serious fashion the next day. Woulda grabbed a 60's Bug hood to pinstripe on too, but Ms. E had to get all logical with time and space type stuff about what we could fit into the truck. Still, woulda looked great on our wall though...
Despite the truly crap weather that's been dogging motorcycle events out our way for a while now, the day of brought out some bikes for the show & shine and a healthy horde of hagglers and rug merchants. It was on like Donkey Kong and Business was booming!
It's a fairly firm rule of ours to not bring out anything parts-wise to a swap meet that we're emotionally attached to. So, regardless of the sticker prices which are kinda like loose wishful guidelines anyways at one of these affairs, there were some pretty wicked deals to be had in our neck of the woods. Like the dude that walked away with a set of Vance & Hines Big Shots that I was sick of taking out of the truck. Mr. Lucky hit up his buddy for some cash and made off with them for $50. Always happy to spread the karma around when we can. A whole passel of other folks rolled out with a bunch of our Kustom Baja Hoodies, Mexican Saddleroll Blankets and bubble visors too. One of the upsides for us in this particular event is that we get to clear out some of our stock from the previous season for Blue Light Special prices. Helluva lotta fun and huge shit eating grins all around. Good stuff!
Gots myself some sweet deals too. Felt kinda bad for wrangling an already stupid cheap Biltwell Gringo down another ten bucks, but that's the way it goes. Picked up a pretty swanky 70's Kawasaki tank as well that, after we finally got home to the Island, was pretty damn quickly shop cat approved. Add in an extra night on the mainland to swill brews and dispense birthday giftages to various and sundry in-laws and there you have it. All in all, another successful event for the Killman Customs crew.
Next up, the Shit Show & Shine in Nanaimo!
